Join us for this year’s Winter Leadership Gathering at the Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center in Houston, TX! This year’s gathering will feature deep conversation, once again introduced by case studies on the topics from other leaders, around the top three issues named in CMSM’s recent survey of major superiors: aging of membership, lack of vocations, and excessive workload.

We are pleased to welcome Leadership Roundtable as our sponsor of the Gathering, who will help to facilitate the discussions as well as Fr. Pedro Arteaga, MSpS as our Spiritual Reflector. Join other leaders for a formative conversation on these essential topics, information sharing, and time for spiritual reflection on your role as leader!

New to the Winter Leadership Gathering? The Gathering is a leadership formation workshop designed for major superiors and councilors of male religious communities. It is discussion-based, focusing on a series of current issues leaders are facing with opportunities to network, reflect, pray over those challenges.

The 2024 Winter Leadership Gathering program will begin at 1:00 PM CT on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Lunch will be available at 12:00 pm CT on Tuesday, January 23. Participants will convene for collaborative learning and networking until the event’s culmination on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 12:00 PM CT. Lunch will be available at the conclusion of the program on Thursday, January 25.

  • 1:45pm – Pastoral Planning for an Aging Institute: Case Study and Discussion – Br. Silas Henderson, SDS and Michael Brough
    • A case study from the director of pastoral planning for the Salvatorians, Br. Henderson, followed by conversation facilitated by Michael Brough.

Logistics

Lodging

The Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center has single occupancy rooms with a bed, linens, and private bathroom. All meals are provided, starting Monday at lunch and through Wednesday at lunch.

Arrival/Departure

The WLG will start Tuesday at 1:00 pm CT, and conclude Thursday at 12:00 pm CT. Lunch will be available both Monday and Wednesday. For those interested, there is an option to come a day earlier (Sunday) or stay a day later (Wednesday) for an extra fee.

Airport

The nearest major airport is George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The retreat center is approximately a 35-minute drive via rental car or taxi/Uber.
