Leading a religious community is a daunting task. It is also a blessed one. Being chosen by one’s brothers to lead is a call to spiritual fortitude, patient endurance, compassionate care, and co-responsible decision-making. We may innately or through experience be able to do some of these things well. Ongoing leadership formation, though, offers us the opportunity to reflect, discern, and act in ways that are more fruitful for our communal life.
Beyond our National Assembly, which offered some additional formation in leadership and management, we have specific programming early next year for experienced and new leaders.
Our Winter Leadership Gathering is January 23-25, 2023, at the Passionist Retreat Center in Houston, Texas. We are pleased to collaborate with Leadership Roundtable on the development of this program which will include analysis and discussion of case studies provided by major superiors as well as spiritual reflections and time for prayer and relaxation. Registration is now open for this interactive and informative program.
If you are new to leadership, we have a program specifically designed for you. It is our New Leader Workshop which will be March 6-8, 2023, in Hyattsville, Maryland. The program will review effective practices and provide needed resources for new leaders. Registration for this workshop will open next month.
There is more information about both programs below. We hope that you will join us.
In prayerful solidarity,
Frank Donio, SAC
Executive Director
