Dear CMSM Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you today about our President, Brother Kevin Griffith, CFC. Over the summer, Bro. Kevin has dealt with a myriad of health concerns. Bro. Kevin is doing well but still in a stage of recovery. In collaboration with his doctors, Bro. Kevin has decided to resign as Province Leader of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers North America.
Our Statutes state that the CMSM President must be a current Major Superior. Due to Bro. Kevin’s resignation as Province Leader he is unfortunately no longer able to continue as CMSM President.
As per our Statutes, CMSM President Elect, Fr. Jeffrey Kirch, CPPS, will become our President (effective immediately) and will complete the rest of Brother Kevin’s term until August 2023. He will then serve the term for which he was elected (2023-2025).
Fr. Jeff was elected to the CMSM Board as a Member-At-Large in 2019. He has continued his service to the Board as Vice President (2021) and President-Elect (2022). We are grateful to Fr. Jeff for moving into the role of President a year early, especially given the reality of leading a new United States Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. During this time of transition Fr. Jeff has expressed his gratitude to Bro. Kevin for his time spent serving CMSM: “Bro. Kevin’s leadership has been invaluable over the past few years. His dedication to CMSM, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, has served our members well.”
Please keep Brother Kevin and his community in your prayers during this time.
Bro. Kevin’s resignation letter can be found here.
Fraternally,
Frank Donio, S.A.C.
Executive Director
