Speakers at this year’s National Assembly, held online for the first time ever, addressed the challenges and realities of racism and racial justice. Under the theme, “Repentance and Reconciliation: Taking Action to Transform the World,” New Orleans Auxiliary Bishop Fernand Cheri III, OFM, and Sulpician Father Tom Ulshafer spoke powerfully about the historic and current experience in the Church. Prior to the National Assembly, the Conference of Major Superiors of Men released a statement on racial justice.
The National Assembly was held Aug. 4-5, 2020. In addition to the program, members elected Bro. Kevin Griffith, CFC, as president-elect and Very Rev. James Herring, O.Praem, as at-large board member. Very Rev. Adam Gregory Gonzales, OCD, delivered the annual Presidential Address.
