Is community life a cross to bear or a joy to live? Most can easily answer in that very Catholic way, it is both/and. For those in leadership in a religious community, it can be one moment one way and another moment the other way. We might be about to participate in a joyous communal event, but right before we need to address a situation that is challenging. Community life is a large area of responsibility for major superiors and councilors that has many facets associated with it.
The focus of our Winter Leadership Gathering this coming January is on some aspects of community life. The case studies and conversation will address a few of the points raised in our CARA study of major superiors. These include individualism, lifestyles that challenge religious identity, and cultural and generational differences.
The time will also include prayer, spiritual reflections, fellowship, and an opportunity for a short retreat. Often, we do not take the time needed for these aspects that are critical for good leadership. Please consider participating in our Winter Leadership Gathering, January 21-24, 2025, at the Holy Cross Passionist Retreat Center in Houston, Texas.
